Ferry Pool: There were two Green Sandpipers at the back this morning, along with two Shoveler and c20 Teal on the main pool, eight Snipe on the concealed pool and c150 Wigeon on the field.. (AH)

North Wall: There was a drake Mandarin on the Breech Pool this morning, along with five Snipe (with another 14 flying over), c25 Black-tailed Godwits, c40 Teal and c60 Mallard, with a Rock Pipit, two Kingfishers and a handful of Reed Buntings along the wall itself. (AH)

East Side and Lagoon: A Spoonbill and a Spotted Redshank were in White's Creek this morning, along with c80 Golden Plover and c300 Lapwing before the tide rose.
Out in the harbour there were five Red-breasted Mergansers, at least 500 Brent Geese, c30 Pintail, c50 Shelduck and large numbers of Wigeon and Teal, with a couple of Bar-tailed Godwits among large numbers of Dunlin and Grey Plover.
There was little of note on the Lagoon beyond a pair of Pochard and c25 Little Grebes and Tufted Duck. (AH)

Church Norton: There was a decent selection offshore this morning with at least five Slavonian Grebes, seven Great Crested Grebes, two Great Northern Divers, a Red-throated Diver and the three Eider all present in the drizzle. In the harbour, the Velvet Scoter was still present to the left of the hide and a Spoonbill was feeding near the old harbour entrance and there were good numbers of Dunlin & Grey Plover around as well as a few Knot. Along the beach path was a small mixed flock of Goldcrests, Long-tailed Tits and Blue Tits and there were two Jays in the trees near the mound. (BI/IL)

Fishbourne Channel: The highlight of a grey afternoon visit on the falling tide were 2 Spotted Redshanks in the upper reaches, close to 24 Pintail. Plenty of other wildfowl present, with 400+ Wigeon and 250+ Brent Geese. (R.Watson)

Also there were c20 Common Scoter, a Great Northern and a Red-throated Diver offshore, at least 1000 Dunlin, 50+ Grey Plover and 10+ Knot and 20+ Ringed Plover roosting around the breach area, three or four Stonechats and Skylarks and 20 or so Meadow Pipits around the last bits of undisturbed rough ground and a Grey Wagtail flew over. There were a few Redshank, Curlew and Black-tailed Godwits, plus at least 150 Teal near the poplars, whilst at least 100 Golden Plover and double that of Lapwings flew up in the far distance.
On the Stilt Pool the Common Sandpiper was about again, along with a single Dunlin and 20 Lapwing, whilst there were also four Shoveler, 12 Gadwall and lots of Wigeon and Teal. (AH)
Church Norton: The Velvet Scoter was still in the harbour at high tide, along with at least 500 Brent Geese, whilst offshore two Sandwich Terns flew west and there were still four Slavonian Grebes and three Eider on the sea.
The Whimbrel was in its usual spot and there were plenty of commoner waders in the harbour, but nothing else too unusual. (AH/BI)
Honer Reservoir: There was no sign of the Long-tailed Duck on the reservoir around mid-day but the rather motley collection did include two Cape Shelducks, two Black Swans & two Egyptian Geese as well as four Canada Geese and 15 Shelducks. There were also good numbers of gulls on the water with c.100 Black-headed Gulls & 40 Herring Gulls present and along the hedges nearby were a Reed Bunting and a Stonechat. A Kingfisher flew down the rife and the two Black Swans joined 42 Mute Swans on the rape field after a while. Overhead were a Kestrel and four Buzzards, two Green Woodpeckers flew from the trees and there were at least 500 Wood Pigeons feeding on the stubble. (BI)
Ivy Lake: Very quiet today with just a few Great Crested Grebes and 60 Canada Geese on the lake along with a few Tufted Ducks. (BI)

Medmerry: Easton Lane to the Stilt Pool - There were two Dartford Warblers near the first sluice this morning, with a Fieldfare and half a dozen Song Thrushes in the hedges opposite, whilst along the banks there were at least ten Stonechats, 50+ Meadow Pipits, 20+ Skylarks and Yellowhammers and a few Reed Buntings, plus at least 20 Stock Doves.There were a few Redshank, Curlew and Black-tailed Godwits, plus at least 150 Teal near the poplars, whilst at least 100 Golden Plover and double that of Lapwings flew up in the far distance.

Selsey Bill: Another fairly quiet morning, though a big movement of Dunlin heading west (presumably out of the harbour) livened things up. Otherwise it was the usual slight offshore movement of Gannets and auks, plus a few Red-breasted Mergansers, and there were three Great Northern Divers on the sea. Also, one of the local dog-walkers reported that earlier in the week the Purple Sandpiper had been on the sea-defences a bit along the path towards the Lifeboat station. Full log below....... Medmerry: Toe End - The Glossy Ibis was still present this morning, amazingly oblivious to the noise and construction going on around it.. A quick look failed to produce either the Black Redstart or the Spoonbill from yesterday - though I didn't wait long - but there were 300+ Dunlin with 10 Grey Plovers and a handful of Brent Geese on the mud, and a Shag close offshore. (OM/BFF/DM)

Ferry Pool: There were 17 Snipe roosting on the concealed pool and a Green Sandpiper, a Redshank, two Shelducks and 245 Teal on the main pool. (AH)

Church Norton: The Velvet Scoter was still present in the harbour today, and offshore Slavonian Grebe numbers had risen to six, whilst the three Eider, a Guillemot and one or two Great Crested Grebes were also about and a lone juvenile Gannet flew west.
There were up to a dozen Knot among the roosting Dunlin and Grey Plover on the metalwork, a Peregrine was on its island and there were 50+ Pintail and six distant Red-breasted Mergansers on the water, with two or three Skylarks and Meadow Pipits and the flock of Greenfinches and Linnets along the spit and a couple of Reed Buntings along the path to the beach.
A Firecrest and a couple of Goldcrests were in the hedge at the back of the churchyard and at least 1000 Brent Geese were on the arable field. (AH/AW/BFF/DM)

Fishbourne Creek: There was nothing unusual bird-wise, but plenty of all the expected waders, a pair of Stonechats, and a fair few Brent Geese, Pintail, Wigeon etc out in the creek, whilst insect-wise there were late individuals of Green-veined White, Clouded Yellow and a Common Darter. (J-PC)
