North Wall & East side: An early start didn't pay off today and there was little to get excited about. The Breech Pool was as ever full of water and held only three Teal and 30 Mallard - so disappointing at this time of year - and there seemed to be few passerine migrants around either, with just a handful of Whitethroats and a couple of Reed Warbler families noted. At least 50 Swallows were hawking the fields and mudflats, plus a single Swift, whilst around 20 Curlews were feeding in the fields and two Whimbrel were flying around calling - but that was it!
White's Creek held the usual selection of Redshanks and small numbers of Black-tailed Godwits, plus a Common Sandpiper and two Greenshank. Further along the East side, two more Whimbrel were present, whilst more distantly 20+ Ringed Plovers and perhaps 70 Dunlin were feeding, 15 Great Crested Grebes were together in the channel and 40 Mediterranean Gulls were roosting on the mudflats. A couple of Willow Warblers were calling from the hedgerows and several Reed Buntings were flitting about, but my best efforts failed to find anything else of note, so I called it a day! (OM)

Also, six Yellow Wagtails came out from among the cows and flew over the Stilt Pool and there were at least 200 Sand Martins and 100 Swallows about, all going gently westwards.
There were very few waders about - just a Common Sandpiper and a dozen Black-tailed Godwits (along with a dozen young Shelducks) by the poplars, and a couple of Common Sandpipers, a Little Ringed Plover, two Avocets and another dozen Black-tailed Godwits on the Stilt Pool, where there were at least 750 Canada Geese, the two Bar-headed Geese and an assortment of ducks, including 20+ Teal and Gadwall. There were also a Sparrowhawk, a Buzzard, a Kestrel and at least 1000 Starlings about.(AH)

Fishbourne Creek: A gathering of c.350 Mediterranean Gulls was at the top of Fishbourne channel this morning - with plenty of other gulls - and a few Black-tailed Godwits, whilst 3 Yellow Wagtails flew over. One of the Med Gulls was bearing a white colour ring no. 364F. Following a prompt reply to my ringing enquiry, I can say this bird was ringed as an adult at Antwerp, Belgium, on 20/5/17 and was seen again on 17/11/17 in Omonville-la-Petite, France, before I found it today.
