North Wall: The female Marsh Harrier was involved in a prolonged dispute with a Buzzard as it attempted to bring in prey, and at least eight Swallows and a Green Woodpecker were around the stables, but it was otherwise very quiet along the wall, with the Breech Pool devoid of birds and no waders in the harbour.
There were, though, ten Grey Herons on the island, half a dozen young Little Egrets  in Owl Copse and at least a dozen Cattle Egrets among the cows at Halsey's Farm.
There were a few passerines about, too, despite the windy conditions, including several Reed Warblers and Whitethroats, a couple of Blackcaps, a Chiffchaff, a Cetti's Warbler and a Lesser Whitethroat, along with two or three Linnets and Reed Buntings. (AH/JDW)

A Cattle Egret in the Severals, the odd Blackcap and Whitethroat, plus the Swallows around the hide and a few Linnets on the beach were it for land-birds, though, (AH)

A Cuckoo was calling from behind the empty Breech Pool and a Kestrel and a Marsh Harrier were also about, whilst nine Grey Herons including several newly fledged youngster, and a couple of Little Egrets were out on their island and a Redshank was in the channel nearby.
At Halsey’s Farm there were 14 Cattle Egrets around the cows and a few Skylarks, a Stonechat and a Reed Bunting were around the fields, whilst another Cuckoo was calling from further back and three Buzzards were overhead. (LP/PC/CT)

Tuesday, 7th June: A pretty dismal morning of persistent drizzly rain in a light south-easterly, drying up eventually as it shifted to a freshening south-westerly........

Medmerry: Easton Lane to the Stilt Pool - Unsurprisingly, most small birds were keeping low, but there were still half a dozen Yellowhammers and Whitethroats and 20+ Skylarks and Linnets along the banks and at least five singing Reed Warblers, whilst a family of Stonechats were by the Stilt Pools, where there were also half a dozen Swallows.
Three pairs of Avocets had chicks with them, with another three apparently brooding and a dozen more loafing, whilst there were also a Little Ringed Plover, a Ringed Plover, a Lapwing and the pair of Oystercatchers, plus two chicks, on the pool.
The pair of Egyptian Geese, plus large gosling, and three families of Canada Geese were also around, along with a pair of Gadwall, but there wasn't much else about. (AH)
