Selsey Bill: The sea was quiet, but it was the first really good movement overhead his morning, including two Tree Pipits, five Swifts, 75 Yellow Wagtails and over 1000 hirundines, plus a female Marsh Harrier that came over low and headed straight out to sea. Ferry Pool: Thee was a tight little flock of six Spotted Redshanks feeding busily on the pool this morning, though otherwise there were just - unusually for here, a Whimbrel, two Common Sandpipers, 14 Black-tailed Godwits, an Avocet, two Lapwings, four Shelducks and c20 Teal. (AH)
Later in the morning there were three Whinchats and a pair of Stonechats in Ferry Field. (CRJ)

Park Farm, Selsey: A Hobby was chasing hirundines over the fields this morning - of which there were roughly 400 Swallows, 200 Sand Martins and 200 House Martins, with 20 Yellow Wagtails, five Grey and two Pied Wagtails also present, plus a Green Woodpecker busy eating ants. (IP/CN)
East Beach: A Fulmar went along the beach this afternoon. (S&SaH)
Selsey: Three Yellow Wagtails went over our house, to the north of the village, this afternoon, with a further 24 over north this evening. (S&SaH)
Church Norton: A Tree Pipit went over the bean field at Greenlease Farm, where there were c70 Yellow Wagtails and still huge numbers of hirundines, with another 16 Yellow Wagtails going along the beach.
Also, a couple of Lesser Whitethroats, four Whitethroats, a family of Reed Warblers and a Blackcap were along the Severals, four Spotted Flycatcher was in the churchyard and three Wheatears were on the spit, with a Sparrowhawk and two Great Spotted Woodpeckers flying over.
Wader numbers were still low, though, with just a Greenshank, a Bar-tailed Godwit, seven Grey Plovers, three Dunlin, three Whimbrel, two Turnstones, a Ringed Plover among the usual Curlews, Redshanks and Oystercatchers. (IP/CN/S&SaH/AW)

North Wall: There was an amazing sighting today by a visiting birder of a Bittern in the reeds at the Breech Pool. (M O'Donnell per Twitter)
A Spotted Flycatcher was by the stables and two Great Spotted Woodpeckers were in the trees nearby, in the bushes behind the sluice there was a Sedge Warbler, a Blackcap, two Willow Warblers, a Chiffchaff, a Cetti’s Warbler and four Whitethroats, whilst a Kestrel was in the bushes further back and a Marsh Harrier, a Buzzard and 100 Swallows were overhead.
Two Kingfishers flew along White’s Creek, and a Greenshank, two Dunlin, a Common Sandpiper, four Grey Plovers, a Whimbrel, and four Black-tailed Godwits were along the banks, together with the usual Redshanks, Lapwings and Curlews.
Around 30 Cattle Egrets were around the various cows, and at least four very young juveniles remain in Owl Copse, whilst at Halsey's Farm there at least three Lesser Whitethroats and half a dozen Whitethroats in the hedges and three Whinchats were on the fences at Owl Point. (LP/AH et al)

Medmerry: Easton Lane to the Stilt Pool - The banks were quiet this afternoon, with just a Dartford Warbler, two Whitethroats, two Wheatears and two Yellowhammers seen with, a Marsh Harrier and a Buzzard, plus just three Swallows, over.
Also, a Cattle Egret, a Greenshank and two Yellow Wagtails were on the reserve, with just a Common Sandpiper and one adult and three juvenile Egyptian Geese on the Stilt Pools. (S&SaH)

Ferry Pool: A Green Sandpiper and a Common Sandpiper were on the pool this morning, along with the first four returning Shovelers, but otherwise there were just a dozen Black-tailed Godwits, four Shelducks and 16 Teal. (AH)
Long Pool: A Whinchat was along the hedges early this morning, along with a juvenile Yellowhammer, half a dozen Whitethroats and Linnets and c40 Goldfinches, but that was about it. (AH)
Park Farm, Selsey: A Hobby went over the farm late this morning, with lots of hirundines present, but beyond that there were just ten Yellow Wagtails on the fields and two Grey Herons over. (IP)
Selsey: A couple of Swifts went over our garden, to the north of the village, this evening, among a mix of Swallows, Sand and House Martins. (AW)
Church Norton: An Osprey and a Hobby were seen over the Severals, along with vast numbers of hirundines, whilst two Redstarts, quite few Whitethroats, a Cetti's Warbler, a Willow Warbler, a Jay and a Green Woodpecker were also in the area, a Spotted Flycatcher was feeding in the Greenlease orchard, a Wheatear was on the concrete blocks and a Tree Pipit went over the spit.
The harbour remains quiet, with just two each of Knot, Dunlin, Whimbrel and Grey Plover all present along with a Bar-tailed Godwit and plenty of Redshanks, Ringed Plovers and Curlews. Earlier, a Great White Egret flew towards North Wall. (IP/AB/BI et al)

This evening a Mistle Thrush was along Rectory Lane, but not much else was moving, with just a couple of Grey Plovers, a dozen Curlews and lots of Redshanks in the harbour, with c100 Swallows and c50 Sand Martins going over. (AH)

Also, around Halsey's Farm and the adjacent harbour there were a Wheatear, two Yellow Wagtails, two Greenshanks, four Golden Plovers and a Whimbrel. (S&SaH)
West Wittering: Not a great deal to report from last night's 'noc-mig,' with Canada Geese and a probable group of Common Terns being the only nocturnal migrants I could hear. There were also at least two Tawny Owls heard and active as well. (GM)
Medmerry: Easton Lane to the Stilt Pool - The banks were generally quiet this morning, though up to five Dartford Warblers, three Stonechats and half a dozen Whitethroats were seen, along with three or four Yellow Wagtails and a few Linnets, whilst five Wheatears were along the sea-defence rocks.
There was a steady stream of hirundines - say 3-400 Swallows and c50 Sand Martins - going over, and a couple of Sparrowhawks and Buzzards were also airborne, and eight Cattle Egrets were on the reserve.
Two Greenshanks were by the poplars, with another at the Stilt Pool, where there were also two Common Sandpipers, an Avocet, c20 Lapwings, a Wigeon, four Teal, the Egyptian Goose family and c200 Canada Geese. (S&SaH/PB/AH)

Long Pool: There wasn't much along the pool beyond a handful of Whitethroats, though a Yellowhammer was at the far end, two Knot were in Ferry Channel, along with c50 Redshanks, two Sparrowhawks went over and a Painted Lady was at the Ferry end (AH)

North Wall: A Whinchat was at Owl Point this morning, with a dozen Cattle Egrets in the fields at Halsey's Farm and c50 House Martins feeding overhead and settling in on the the hedges. (JM)

Church Norton: All the action this morning was along the hedges by the hide, with a big loose flock including a Spotted Flycatcher, a Garden Warbler, a couple of Lesser Whitethroats and Blackcaps, half a dozen Whitethroats, up to a dozen Willow/Chiffs and lots of Long-tailed Tits.
Otherwise, it was fairly quiet, with little in the harbour beyond a group of a dozen Little Egrets and the usual Curlews and Redshanks. (AH/TS/CN/P&LH)

This evening two Wheatears were on the concrete blocks, but few other small birds were about, whilst in the harbour there were four Bar-tailed Godwits, two Whimbrel and half a dozen Grey Plovers, but no small waders at all. (AH)
Medmerry: Easton Lane to the Stilt Pools - A flock of five Greenshank flew north near the Poplars and a further two were found in the general area, along with two Common Sandpipers and a Ruff, plus 11 Gadwall, with four Sand Martins and a few Swallows going over.
Two female-type Marsh Harriers were over the fields, a Merlin was chased over the Poplars by some Crows, a Sparrowhawk was also harassed by crows and also present were a Kestrel and Buzzard.
A Dartford Warbler was in the gorse near Marsh Farm, a Tree Pipit flew over north, and there were also a minimum of three Yellow Wagtails in the area, whilst a Whimbrel and a minimum of four Wheatears were near the rocks, but only three Yellowhammers were seen along the banks.
A Lesser Black-backed Gull was roosting on the Stilt Pool, but, otherwise, there were just a Common Sandpiper, the Egyptian Goose family and six Gadwall of note. (IP/CN)
